"What would you do if the world was ending? Spend time with loved ones? Go on that trip you've always wanted? Or risk everything and try to stop it?"

Sun's Edge is a game being developed for PC and Console by indie developer KC Studios.

The game can best be described as an Open Map Adventure game, with heavy inspiration from Zelda Breath of the Wild, Monster Hunter, and Elden Ring. Step into the boots of Machete, a park ranger, who has been sent to investigate the island of Solasta, which is believed to be the source of a powerful curse that is poisoning the entire world...

The final game will have 6 Regions to explore, a Story Mode inspired by Aztec mythology, and a Boss Rush minigame aimed at a 2025 digital release. Enjoy the vast nature, find hidden treasure, document unique critters, and encounter different monsters in each region!

We already have a fully functional PC Demo you can try right now!!! "Cursed Sands" lets you try one of the missions in the game, offering 40 minutes of playtime and showcasing our dungeon design, combat system, power-ups, puzzles, and a 3 phase boss fight! We are actively working with our playtest group on Discord and adding features/making patches daily to ensure the game is as polished and easy to pick up as possible!

This is a game for the fans of the fast-paced hack-and-slash genre! We wanted to emulate the fast nature of slasher games with the open map of newer Zelda games! Be prepared to fight hordes of monsters, forage for supplies, climb steep cliffs, and watch out for hidden traps!

Your go-to weapon is the Machete, but you can collect many weapons, including Poison Daggers, Macuahuitls, Obsidian Spears, Rock Clubs, the Fire Staff, the "forbidden boomstick", a "totally regular hammer", and more! Each weapon has a unique playstyle, daggers are much quicker than a macuahuitl, but are less powerful per swing. Bombs are incredibly powerful, but you'll need to carefully place them in order to kill monsters and uncover hidden secrets! Master each weapon, mix them with power-ups, and collect different armor to become unstoppable!

Ranger Machete is not alone! Each of his companions has unique item sets and combat styles that can be utilized to access new parts of the map and spice up combat in different creative ways!

Kai came up with the concept for Sun’s Edge in college during his journey of self-discovery. Being of Black and Latino descent, he wanted to find a fun way to honor his ancestry, while also introducing the world to stories and mythology overlooked in media. Even the main character’s struggle of not belonging anywhere reflects Kai’s personal experience as an individual of mixed race.

I want others to discover a new type of folklore and mythology through my game! Most characters and items are inspired by Aztec, Navajo, Incan, and other pre-Columbian nations from Central America! Supporting this project can help show growing interest in the genre so we get more new stories and games!
